Before Proceeding
You must be sure you are using the latest in browser technology. This site functions properly using either:

Step 1 - Enter Zip Code

Enter your Zip Code for your local dial-up area. You will be directed to the auracom of Halifax location nearest you. If you are a existing user, you must enter the Zip Code in the area where you signed-up for service.
If you have already entered a Zip Code but would like to change your Zip Code click here!

Step 2 - View Web Site

After you have entered the Zip Code for your local area, you can now view the http://216.126.214.195/taw/chat/auracom/livechat.html site. View national and local news and information. You have the ability to browse our Member, Internet, and Community services.

Step 3 - Personalization Center

As a member of auracom of Halifax, you have the ability to personalize your web site content and layout after you log in. Simply click the log in button at the top of the screen and you will be prompted to enter your user name and password. This must be your same user info as used when connecting to auracom of Halifax's Internet Service.

Example if my dial-up account is Johndoe and my password is 1234, I would enter:

jondoe
1234

when prompted.

Step 4 - Let's Personalize

Now that you have been been recognized by the system, your name will now appear at the top of the web site, welcoming you upon each visit. You will also see blue bars at the top of the several boxes within your site layout. These boxes are called Objects. You can personalize your Objects at auracom of Halifax.com in several ways. They include:
- Adding Objects
  You can add as many Objects as you want to your page from our available list. Click the Add Your Object under the Personalization Center on the right hand side of the page.
  
  After you click the Add Your Object link, this new window will pop up where you can choose an Object to add to your site.
- Moving Objects
  (example: you can use the < > or UP buttons on the Object to move it left or right or up on your page)
- Deleting Objects
  (example: by clicking the edit button another window will pop up where you can delete the Object on your site)
- Customizing Objects
  Current News Object: Customize this Object by clicking the edit button on the Object's blue bar and a new window will pop up.
  
  My Links Object: The My Links Object allows you to make a list of your favorite Web Sites for easy access. Customize this Object by clicking the edit button on the Object's blue bar. In the new window that pops up, type the name of the link (as you want it to appear inside the Object) in the Title: box. Type the Web site address (URL) in the Link: box.
  
  Photo Album: To cusomize this Object, click the edit button on the Object's blue bar. In the new window that pops up, you can add and delete images and change the order that your images are displayed.
  
  Weather Object: Customize this Object by clicking the edit button on the Object's blue bar. A new window will pop up that look like this:
Customizing Objects is also fast, easy and fun. Return often to the Add Your Objects area to see if new objects are available to add to your site. Enjoy.

Configuring your system

This site is best viewed using a screen resolution of 800 X 600. Most new Windows-based computers are set to a default of 640 X 480, so we have provided instructions for optimizing your resolution.

Example: Adjusting your screen to a higher resolution allows you to view more of the Web site on your screen.

If you would like to adjust your screen resolution, please follow the instructions below for Windows 98.

Double-click on My Computer

Double-click on Control Panel

Double-click on Display

Select the Settings tab at the top

Adjust the Screen Area setting until it reads "800 X 600"

Adjust the Colors setting to the highest possible setting (maintaining the '800 X 600' screen area)

Click on OK and close any windows that are open

You may be required to restart your computer in order for the settings to take effect

Our site was constructed internally and was enhanced for version 4 browsers with special enhancements for Internet Explorer 4.+. If you are not using one of the fourth generation browsers or better, you may have some problems viewing this site.
